Ether Long Scale Potentiometer

Instructions in the lid

I was given this instrument which formed part of a collection of many instruments collected by Bob Evans by his daughter Alice Kirby. It is housed in a mahogany box with an aluminium knob inset on the right hand side which turns the calibrated drum housing the main potentiometer. When I opened it up I discovered that there was no standard cell, the rubber drive wheels for the long scale potentiometer were perished and some components appeared to be absent. It has now been stripped down for the parts and the remainder scrapped. I guess this dates from around the early 1950s. In 1960 the firm was situated in Stevenage.
